Experience, Clarity and Style
I have more than 30 years of experience in journalism, writing and editing and I am available for freelance work for you or your organization.
Before going freelance, I served as the editor of AutoSuccess for more than a decade. In this position, I generated original content as well as coordinated and edited thousands of submitted pieces for style, substance, grammar and length for both print and online use. I currently serve in a similar capacity for another trade magazine, American Drycleaner.
Also, under my pen name David Falkirk, I’m the published author of four novels, six collections of short stories and the co-author of the non-fiction book The Theory of 5 with Chris Saraceno. From press releases to technical articles to feature stories, I have a wealth of experience producing the informative and entertaining content you need.
I am available to create and edit bylined, non-bylined or ghostwritten material. My goal is to make your job as easy as possible by providing clean, well-written, entertaining and informative material suited to your audience and your subject area. I’m well-versed in the fields of sales, leadership, health, science, pop culture and, thanks to years spent in the journalistic trenches, I am a quick study. I will create articles and other material on time and on budget. I aim to exceed expectations.
If you don’t see your specific needs represented on this site, please contact me. We can discuss the best way to achieve your goal, and estimates are always free. References and sample work are also always available.
Fun Facts
- In 2014, my Tower of Technobabble podcasting partners Ben Schneider and Paul Moeller and I set a Guinness World Record for “Longest Uninterrupted Live Webcast” (now known as “Longest Audio-Only Live Stream“) at the Wonderfest Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. The record was then topped by a pair of Turkish DJs, and is now held by Mario Bikes of Sydney, Australia. We do have documentation that states we made history at the time, but congrats, Mario!
- I chose the pen name “David Falkirk” by borrowing the name of a lovely town in Scotland that my wife and I have visited twice. Falkirk is also the home of the jaw-dropping 30-meter-high metal sculpture “The Kelpies.” If you’re ever in the area, do yourself a favor.
As the former editor of the Journal of System Safety (JSS), I worked with Dave Davis for more than six years. Dave was hired by the International System Safety Society to act as publisher for the JSS. In this capacity, Dave prepares the layout, checks the content, coordinates the printing and handles the mailing. The JSS is printed in both hardcopy and electronic versions, which requires a diversified set of skills. I have found Dave to be professional, technically competent and very easy to work with. Dave produces the JSS on schedule and on budget, which is a difficult task in these complex, fast-moving times.
